The Nehemiah House

Lighthouse Ministries' Nehemiah House was the vision of Teen Challenge graduate Dan Henderson and his wife Tay. Dan passed away in 2004, but the Nehemiah House continues under Tay's leadership as the Executive Director. The Nehemiah House  providing stable and safe temporary housing for men who enter the available programs. Through this ministry, the Nehemiah House continues to conform to Dan's vision of a safe environment for men to regain their footing within society.

The Nehemiah House opened in May 2005; it is a four month residential home for men with life controlling problems. We provide transitional housing, helping men when they are released from jail or prison get a new start in life. First and foremost is to share God's love and forgiveness and that "If any man be in Christ he is a new creature, old things have passed away, behold all things have become new. II Corinthians 5:17.

Thank you for your continued support of our ministry!

A Second Chance

The Nehemiah House offers the opportunity for a new beginning to those who might not find it elsewhere. Many men who have lost their independence through unemployment, incarceration or through the ravages of addiction are now being helped to overcome the limitations that have become a hindrance to their success.

Program Description

When a client begins the Nehemiah House program, he commits to attend two months of classes and training during the week days. These sessions deal with a variety of job and life skills issues, and try to lend a Biblical point of view to the subject matter.

All clients will be housed at Lighthouse Ministries' Nehemiah House on Elm Tree Lane. They will incrementally transition back into full time employment during their stay. Meals and basic necessities will be provided for them as they work to get their lives back on track. Residents fully complete the program after four months.

Who is Eligible

The Nehemiah House is designed for men who have fallen on difficult times and need some assistance finding employment or housing. It helps these men remove barriers that stand in the way of an independent lifestyle. We also accept men who are experiencing spiritual lows and need help discovering or rediscovering God's love for them.
